STATE GRADING INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTATION

The shock of the untimely death of Soke Richard Norton has left us reeling.

The co-founder of Zen Do Kai and legend of the big screen was known around the world for his martial arts skill and his personal embodiment of the martial spirit.

All of our members will be feeling this loss of a great human.

BJMA and Zen Do Kai will be hosting two official events in memory of Soke Richard. These are open to all persons (martial artist or otherwise) who wish to come together and share the life of someone who had an impact on so many.

27th April, will be an open air event. We will be co-ordinating people to speak of their love of Richard and his impact on them. Please bring a chair if required. There is no dress code.
 

We will meet at the Augthie Drive Car park and make our way to one of the large oak trees in the area. Richard often spoke of the grounding and energy he recieved from these magnificent trees on his walks around Albert Park Lake.

Please allow an hour to an hour and half. You are encouraged to either stay on and spend time with friends or continue at a local establishment.

June 7th marks Zen Do Kai and BJMA's 55th year.
Our Gala Ball has been planned for sometime with Soke Richard playing a central role. This night will now be a Celebration of Soke Richard Norton and his life in Martial Arts and Zen Do Kai's 55th year. The style he co-founded with Soke Bob Jones.

Celebrate 55 years of BJMA at our Gala Ball.

Hosted at Melbourne's Pullman Hotel in the Grand Ball room, Albert Park. June 7th, 2025

Enjoy catching up with old friends and making new ones. We all have so much in common and so many fond memories. 

The evening will start with predinner drinks and hors d'oeuvres, we will then move into the main Ball room and devour a 3 course meal, enjoy the live band, hear from a couple of our VIPS and laugh the night away. The ticket also includes a basic drinks package of soft drink, beer and wine.

Stay the night and join us for breakfast on Sunday morning.
